Prelude to a Life

I am now offering Prelude to a Life: Journalistic Birth Photography again! After an 18 month hiatus (due to the pregnancy, birth and infancy of my 2nd son), I am now available for birth photography again. I had to take a break to adapt to life as a new mom for the 2nd time.

I am so excited to be offering this again. I love pregnancy and childbirth! (Yes, I know I am weird) I think that bringing a new person to the world is the most amazing experience. I love the emotions that surround that moment, good and bad. I love watching a family change right before my eyes. I love being a part of it and documenting it for a family to enjoy for years to come.

My first experience with it was with my 1st nephew, Peyton. I was saddened to miss the actual birth by 2 hours (we lived 4 hours away at the time), but I loved capturing his first 24 hours alive! Back then, I had my film camera, my business was only 3 months old, I wasn't even married yet, but I still loved photography! My sister-in-law, Ashley, still has the album that we made her with those pictures and she tells me often how much she loves it.

When I found out that Ashley was expecting her 2nd son in 2005, I was thrilled and asked if I could be the official birth photographer! She was thrilled that I offered. And this time, I didn't miss the birth. Watching my nephew Jackson enter this world was amazing. I snapped over 300 pictures in his first 3 days of life! We actually created albums for Aaron (the Dad) and Ashley and all 4 sets of Grandparents within 12 hours of his birth! Ashley was just telling me on the phone today that she knew I was there taking pictures, but she really forgot I was there at the time.

I was grateful to be able to capture those moments and I would love to do it for other families.

So now that I am getting some sleep (Christian only gets up 2-3 times a night now), I am ready to offer my services for families that want to capture this amazing experience.

Here is a link to a slideshow that I have put on our website to show what our Journalistic Birth Photography looks like. (BTW...Callie is also more than willing to do Prelude to a Life sessions too. In fact, she covered my son Christian's birth. Well...almost. I ended up having a c-section so my midwife took the actual birth pictures, but Callie was there through the entire labor process and was also the first to come visit us in the Maternity Ward!)

Hope you enjoy! Feel free to make comments or shoot me an e-mail to tell me that you like it. (I need an ego boost every now and then too. LOL)

Yawn...are the teeth in yet?

I am having a hard time staying awake. Christian has decided to start waking up a lot during the night. Last night it was every 2 hours, the night before it was every hour. And at 3am on Tuesday morning, he wanted to play! It is so hard to get mad at a toothless grin staring up at you at 3am, begging you to play...but Mommy needs sleep!!!

I think he might be teething. The drool is running prevalent and he is chewing on everything! I just hope that they come in soon so that we can all get some sleep around the house.

Until next time!

Tea for 1!

Shan got some teacups from Walmart to use as props and since I have an adorable 7 month old (Happy 7 month Birthday Christian!) I had to put him in it.

Enjoy these pics!

Until next time...
