Birthday Boy at School!

Since Ian has a summer birthday, he got to celebrate at school during the last week of school. Ian wanted to take brownies with kisses candies on them as his treat. Shan, Christian and I went to the school that day with the treats in hand and Ian got to enjoy wearing a crown all day at school. I can't believe he is almost 6!

Ian's Thanksgiving Feast

Ian's class had their Thanksgiving Feast today at school. I went in to help serve and of course grab a few pictures of my little man.

It was really cute! They had all the Kindergarten kids dressed as pilgrims and all the Pre-K and Preschool kids were dressed as Indians.

This year they themed it based on the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. The kids had bread with butter and jelly, popcorn, pretzels, jelly beans, jello and juice for their feast. Not exactly healthy...but the kids really liked it!

Field Trip: The Farm at Walnut Creek

Shan and I had the privilege to go on a field trip with Ian and the other Kindergartners from his school. We went to The Farm at Walnut Creek. If you have never been there, it is worth the drive to Amish country to see it. They took us on a horse drawn wagon ride and we got to feed llamas, bulls, deer, giraffes and zebras! We saw so many different kinds of animals it was like being at an interactive zoo!

It was also super fun to spend time with Ian and to get to see him around his classmates. And what could be more fun that seeing these animals with a bunch of 5 and 6 year olds? They were so excited to see all the different animals that it really made the trip fun.

So here are some pictures from our adventure. I highly recommend checking out The Farm at Walnut Creek. It was a very cool place!

Talk about up close and personal with the animals! LOL I think this Zebra thought that there was food in my lens! LOL

I think Ian was kind of surprised to see a giraffe leaning over him to get to the food!

Ian's favorite animal of the day was.....the deer. He really thought they were special!

I love being able to go on field trips with him. It was so much fun and it was nice to spend the day focused on him. Now that he is in school everyday, I really miss him!

Kindergarten Orientation

I can't even believe that I am typing this. My baby...my 1st born...is starting Kindergarten in 2 days!!! Today was his orientation.

He got to go to his school, meet his teacher, take his rug and blanket for quiet time and put his crayon box in his chair pouch. He examined the classroom. He really liked the dome of bugs. (It was a plastic dome that has preserved bugs in it. He wanted to touch them to help them move, but we explained that they wouldn't move anymore.)

He did really well and I am happy that he likes his classroom. Hopefully I won't fall to pieces when I put him on the school bus for the first time on Friday.

Ian found his name on the Classroom Jobs list. I think he will do good with a job.

He liked finding the kitchen set to play with. (Sorry Dad! LOL)

Of course, he began playing with the kitchen by re-organizing it. He found dishes in the refrigerator and said "Those don't go there!" and promptly put them in the cupboard.
Same with the food. And the salt. LOL

Ian was fascinated with the Bug Dome! Go figure! LOL

Now he has found the workbench. (There you go Dad!) He screwed down that one piece of wood to make it secure! Even Shan couldn't get it loose...but that was before Ian told him that there was a nut underneath of it! LOL

This is why I don't ask my kids to look at me and smile.
This is what I got when I asked Ian to sit at his place at his table, look at me and smile! LOL

If you get a minute, say a prayer for Ian...that he will do well, fit in and be patient and quiet in Kindergarten. (Okay...that is probably asking a lot, but God can do anything, so it can't hurt to pray!) Also, say a prayer that I will make it through Friday! It is going to be a long, rough day for me too! LOL
